Election 2016: The Ugly Proof

The following is my November 9, 2016 outburst FB post.  It is as emotionally current today as then, and probably will be for a long time.

It is gut-wrenching to try to instill values – like love, kindness, compassion, knowledge, information-sharing, learning, self-improvement, education, progress, diplomacy, respectful discourse, open-mindedness, open-hearted-ness, and work ethic – and then get straight-up proof that so many people don’t care about these values. To get straight-up proof that so many willfully ignore history and reality and others’ pain. To get straight-up proof that so many won’t even try to see through obvious-to-any-5th-grader propaganda. To get straight-up proof that so many cater to and manipulate the ugly timeless practice of white people to lay blame for their woes on anyone but themselves – perpetually furious over their tough times, even while others’ are risking life and limb and language barriers and mistreatment and long years of multiple below-their-qualifications jobs just to get here to less-tough times, so their kids or grand-kids might have better lives. If you’re a fact and data driven human being, this proof sucks.

I Didn’t Lose on Nov. 8. I Didn’t Vote for Me.

To the ‘get over it you lost’ commentators out there:  I didn’t lose on 11/8.  I didn’t vote for me on 11/8.  I’ve never voted for me in my life.  Here’s who lost. Science lost.  The environment lost.  Serving the poor lost.  LGBTQ individuals and communities lost.  Non-whites lost.  Non-Christians lost.  Children bullied for their “suspicious skin tones” lost. Education lost.  Constitutional knowledge lost.  Fact-finding lost.  The Voting Rights Act lost. Communities who need clean air and water lost.  Disabled people lost.  Women’s healthcare lost.  My friends and loved ones around the country lost.  My neighbors lost.  My daughter lost.  If you aren’t/weren’t aware of  these losses and how they have already had an impact, please leave a comment here requesting sources and examples or consider researching the information yourself.  Non-Fake News materials have been and are publicly and easily available.  Either way, I didn’t lose.  I haven’t been worrying about me, and I will not be getting over it.
