We have to know this by now! History has taught repeatedly the danger in supporting any party, leader, politician, or organization who labels educated individuals as ‘elitist’ or ‘elite.’ It’s been done! And the consequences have been tragic and horrifying. There simply is no honest, peaceful, humanitarian, or well-intentioned purpose in discrediting, discouraging, or creating antagonism toward education and higher learning. No party or leader or group can undertake such an effort and also care about their fellow human beings and the health of their communities and country. This cannot remain a source of confusion for anyone! Being educated does not make you elitist. Lifting yourself or your descendants out of poverty or abject marginalization by being educated does not make you elitist. Dedicating years to the advancement of knowledge, whether in science, public policy, investigative journalism, art or other field does not make you elitist. Gaining hard-won experience or expertise in that particular field does not make you elitist. Having an awareness of history, diverse cultures, and world affairs does not make you elitist. All this, if anything, is how you become the exact opposite of elitist. And anyone who seeks to convince you otherwise has necessarily only sinister motives – to perpetuate unfair and violent advantage, to conceal truth, and to block your light.
